Hi Frank !
I found your interesting article travelling via internet but i'm not pretty good with french language and (if possible) less with air combat, I use only gliders !! but I'm pretty good with rc scaler (1/10 offroad jeep) and with rc tank since some years.
I read all about your Mac612 and I've no words to explain how good is your work!
I've a dream in my mind with a "single shoot"  mac612 to use on my tank: have you ever think to make and sell it?
In worst case, is there any construction template/guide to follow (best in english)?

Thank you very much, again...you are great !!

Hi, Fabio, welcome here Very Happy

RC tank??? interresting   bounce  would you please post some pics ?
I used a Tamya Tiger to test my video devices, some years ago. That was funny but tracks were fragile.
Do you pilote it with a fpv camera?

The MAC612 is obsolete, now. I made a new one, ( MAC614 ) much more simple, smaller, lighter and less CO² greedy Wink

I never thought seriously to sell them. I'm busy enough, no need of that Rolling Eyes
A single shot? you mean one action on the fire button gives one shot?
Paradoxically, I think it will be a little more complex. A hook to retain the mechanism armed...
If really you are interested I can think about it  Wink

Can We know a little more about you? Where are you from?

Fred

Hi Fred, I'm writing from Italy, just over french state limit (50 km far away from Briancon).
I started with r/c about 20 years ago and I played with everything can be radiocontrolled Very Happy
2 little babies and ever less free-time made me choose among all my "toys" : nowadays I play only with 1/10 scaler (self made), gliders and rc tanks.
Here my last tank, no FPV now, but it's fully equipped with metal tracks and trasmission, IR combat unit and gyro stabilizers for turret.
Mac612 on a rc tank IMG_0298

Mac612 on a rc tank IMG_0287

and probably this is the one I choose for a C02 cannon prototype.

So.... go on with MAC614 !!  Very Happy  Very Happy
I mean... one click make a single turn for arm-motor and shot a single bb.
This would be the "final result", for me and other "tankers" in my companion

Thank you very much Fred for your interes

Italian? great! Very Happy

These tanks are awesome! Metal tracks? how big are they? A link please?

Is the turret large enought for an airsoft? You know, my guns aren't "scale". Even if it is partially hiden in the turret, a "MAC" will never look like a real canon because of the spring, and the moving canon : it goes ahead and rear each time it fires, around15mm. It is very powerfull. Do you need this power?
Do you know there are 8mm BB and barrels too? ( I'd name it "MAC814" Wink )

I tought about it : firing one by one may be easy to do. The reducting ratio have to be largely increased to slow down the movement, and a switch could make the gun stop in a precise position of the operating cycle. A second switch radio-piloted to command the fire. A second fire will happen if the action is maintened Neutral
... hum, I have to keep thinking scratch

Mac612 on a rc tank Empty Re: Mac612 on a rc tank

Hi Frank,

We use 1/16 rc tanks and all over the world there are several manufacturers, with different detail level and different costs.
Higher to lower :
- Tamiya, of course best detail level but they broke as cheapest one, prices out of my mind !!
- Asiatam : middle-high level but still high prices
- Torro : high level and various prices according to optionals you want
- Heng Long : lowest prices but easy to customize and find, early production detail level is growing more and more

I usually buy in Germany but I'm pretty sure you can find local retailer even in France.

http://www.heng-long-panzer.de/
http://www.torro-shop.de

Tanks are about 50cm long, 20 cm width, 3/4 kg weight depending with 1:1 tank

I've a fully upgraded Heng Long M41A3 Walker bulldog :
- metal tracks and sprocket (trasmission wheel)
- metal 5:1 trasmission system
- Clark tk22 electronics
- gyro stabilizer for vertical and horizontal cannon movement
- all standard electronic replaced with servos

In normal configuration it fires (with leaky OEM shooting system) 6mm 0.23 grams balls, stored into the turret and usually filled via hatch.
But in best conditions it reaches about 5/8 meters of distance. It's a shame, so... yes I need this power !! Very Happy Very Happy

I think that turret housing it's enough to hide your system : the green main cannon you can see in my photos contains another 7mm alluminium tube, used to fire bb. The alum tube is free to move inside the green plastic one, on google you can find many modified turrets photos with recoil system that makes alum barrel move back and forward in a very scale way.
For example, try a look at this (first result youtubing "heng long recoil")

Edit: take a look at this "grotesque" video (tank and WWII planes)

Sad ! Crying or Very sad  I understand better, now.
I use 0.25g bb, and they are speed enought to drill foam to 20 or 30m. I think they'd crack plastic bodys of some tank if they are fired close enought, but I think that's not your goal Neutral
Be carefull, it can hurt Shocked

I just gave you access to the limited part of the forum (your name is red, now).
this could help you : https://aerofred.forumgratuit.org/t229-mac-614-schema
This too : https://aerofred.forumgratuit.org/t173-mac-614-principe-de-fonctionnement
It is very incomplete (I'm lazy ) but if you ask questions that will be an opportunity to improve it Wink

Hi Frank ! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy (sorry but I was writing from cell phone and spell checker dows its own affairs)
I'm really grateful for limited area access Embarassed
I'll read everything to choose the best solution to use on my Bulldog.

I can reassure you about the use, because we play on very large fields or (eventually) make some practice against moke targets.
In official events we use only infrared systems with related roles : tank classification (light, medium and heavy), angle of impact, repair tanks, ecc...

Thank you very much
See you soon

Hi, perhaps you may consider another option.
This is mine unfinished project of gun cannon for warship.
Plastic parts were 3D printed.

Mac612 on a rc tank Cannon10

Mac612 on a rc tank Cannon11

It is semi-automatic pneumatic cannon and fires 4.5mm steel BB's ( 75 rounds magazine capacity ).
It operates at 150 psi pressure and projectile energy is about 1.8 Joule ( mine is set at 190-200 fps ) .
This cannon requres inline pressure regulator and has huge dispersion.

Here is link to shop where I bought the cannon:

@Fred: could you also give me access to MAC details ?  Smile
